This month we're going to fall back on an old cliche, that less really can be more. Well OK maybe not more, but enough. The Featured AZ'er for February 2009 is proof positive that you don't have to do a lot to an Audi to make it into a stunner. Sure it helps when the Audi you're starting out with is one of the best looking cars sitting on dealer showrooms right now. Stating that the S5 is the meanest and at the same time the most beautiful car that Audi has ever produced (aside from perhaps the R8) wouldn't be a hard argument to win. It doesn't take much to turn it from a model off the cover of a Maxim mag to one off the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. It's as easy as tightening up this, dropping that over there, and polishing it up at all four corners...or is it?

Yes, it may be easier said than done. Here at Audizine we're lucky enough to have a handful of tastefully modified new A5s and S5s around to gawk at. The specimen seen here is from "The Land Down Under", and it's a favorite of ours. You may have seen this 2008 Phantom Black S5, which belongs to Peter (who goes by the username mrponline), gracing this year's Official Audizine Wall Calendar (he's Mr. August, by the way) or perhaps you've simply seen some of his posts in the B8 A5/S5 Forum. Either way, we're going to bet that just like us, you're a big fan. With its deep window tint, and the perfectly low stance of the H&R Race springs and 20 inch by 10 inch Forged DPE S10 three-piece wheels, we had to give this car a closer look.

We see great things continuing to come from Peter and his S5, as well as the numerous other all-new Audis currently in the hands of enthusiasts (or those eagerly on the wait/order list) all across the globe. We here at Audizine are always on the lookout for both the best in late-model project cars and the ongoing builds of the old school variety. If it is unique, clean, classy, groundbreaking, and done well then it's got the potential to make it into the Featured AZ'er section. If you feel that this describes your car, then look for details in this month's upcoming Audizine Newsletter for how you can submit your own Audi for consideration. Peter's S5 is basically touching on all of the requirements we look for. It's about taking the heritage of European tuning and using your own personal taste to do just enough to make the vehicle stand out from the crowd. To make it just that much better than the day you drove it off the lot.

Q (Audizine): So first question, how long have you owned the S5?
A (Peter): Eight months.

Q: Off to a good start already. How has your ownership been with it so far?
A: Very happy with it.

Q: Do you think you'll get another one anytime soon?
A: I plan on owning the car for at least another twelve months.

Q: Is this your first Audi? If not, what other models and years have you owned?
A: This is my third Audi. I have owned both a B5 and a B7 A4 previous to the current S5.

Q: How long have you been into Audis and in the European tuning scene?
A: Since owing the B5 A4. So about ten years.

Q: And how long have you been into cars in general, as an enthusiast?
A: All my life.

Q: Where do you think that passion and enthusiasm comes from? Can you relate it to anything?
A: I look at it as a art form, I try to improve the overall look of a car without overdoing it.

Q: What do you love most about the car?
A: The stance.

Q: What's your biggest peeve in regards to the car, the one thing you dislike the most?
A: Being a daily driver it sometimes brings unwanted attention.

Q: How do you best explain your modding style? Do you prefer more go, more show, perhaps a combo of both?
A: I try to make it unique, and where possible try to improve on the overall look by applying subtle changes.

Q: Do you like doing any of the work yourself, or do you have a shop or a specific person perform the work?
A: I do most mods myself. Any mods that require specialized equipment, I take it to a shop.

Q: And which mod are you the most proud of or happy with?
A: The suspension and wheel combo as it transforms the stance of the car significantly.

Q: Can you describe your fondest memory of owning, modifying, or driving your S5?
A: The day I picked it up from the dealership I took it on a long spirited drive where I formed a special bond with the car.

Q: What would be in your ultimate two-car garage, if money were no object yet you could only choose two vehicles?
A: A Koenigsegg CCX and a Aston Martin DBS.

Q: What do your friends and family think about your passion for Audis?
A: They think I'm obsessive, as I keep it meticulously clean.

Q: How does your love for cars, and Audis specifically, affect your life? Does it play a big part?
A: Hasnt really affected my life but has allowed me to meet many other Audi enthusiast from around the world.

Q: What brought you to Audizine, and how long have you been with us?
A: I was looking for ideas and products to modify my B7 A4. I've been a member since 2006.

Q: And when you're not on Audizine, or out detailing the Audi, what do like to you do for fun?
A: Catching up with family and friends.

Q: Do you have an interesting day job? Care to talk a little bit about it?
A: I won't bore you with details, but I am very creative with computers. I can make them do anything you like.

Q: Any word of advice for your fellow enthusiasts, any bits of knowledge you'd like to share with The Zine?
A: Modding is addictive and can quickly become a bad habit.

Q: So true. And in conclusion, do you have anyone you'd like to thank?
A: Anyone and everyone who has ever supported me or has brought something positive into my life.
